NACFB Gala Dinner: A Night to Celebrate and Speculate

As a successful year comes to a close, Spotcap made sure we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate our achievements and those of the industry by attending the NACFB Gala Dinner in London last Thursday. The National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers is the UK trade body for more than 1600 commercial finance brokers and 138 lenders across the UK.

Spirits were high as our broker management team were amongst 680 guests at the largest Gala Dinner from the association to date. Senior Partnership Manager, Kevin Vendel explained: “It’s quite difficult to keep in touch with all of our brokers, the event was a great chance to meet many of them all at once, to share success stories and to introduce ourselves to new faces.”

Brokers and lenders from all over the UK, along with heavy weights from Westminster and the City, were all entertained by a band as the night took on a Great Gatsby theme. The art deco inspired setting proved the perfect backdrop to proceedings as Commercial Partnership Manager, Shyam Lakhani attests to: “The evening was a fantastic opportunity to meet industry peers, old and new in a more relaxed setting than usual.”

The atmosphere was boosted by comedy from former MP and QI veteran Gyles Brandreth who paid testament to the roles of brokers in funding UK SMEs. The positive mood was further apparent as a silent auction was arranged in aid of the charity YoungMinds. The room donated generously as £20,138 was successfully raised in commitment to improving the mental health of children and young people.

With the accomplishments of the year dutifully recognised and the thriving nature of the lending industry ensured, Spotcap hope to make 2018 a year filled with even more to celebrate. We can’t wait to see who we meet along the way.
